I think I've got a sysex if you can't find it, but I've never tried it. Honestly think the MCU emu is the shortest route the where you want to go, if you can find the stuff.

I keep a spreadsheet to track the thousands of configured signals (not all of which have been assigned in Live) I can go on and on.

I realize I'm rambling, but I am the BCR+Live evangelist. Set another one to turn to scroll scenes and fire the scene when you push it - all 1 control/gesture. Also, it's so fucking logical and user-friendly to use those top encoders that both turn and push for the clip editing controls: 4 of them to turn and scroll region/loop start/stop where pushing the same ones will set those points to the cursor. Velocity drive/random across 8 MIDI beat tracks for my LP on one preset, Max Polybeat probabilities and velocities on another, bass input compressor amp/cab chain selector, Operator Osc A, Operator Osc B, Operator Master, Operator Filter, etc. Those controls stay mapped on every preset and there's 2 rows of knobs that are "open" on each preset so those become specialized for little jobs. Even time sigs and record quantize, which I made M4L devices for. From my perspective, the BCR-2000 is dedicated to serving SAC and I don’t want to allow it to get into some funny mode (e.g., a different preset) if a user accide ntially hits one of these buttons.

If you hit CTRL+M in an empty set, everything shaded blue is mapped. Note that my sysex file on the BCR-2000 disables the store, learn, edit, exit, <- (preset) and -> (preset) keys. Behringer today announced plans to bring back its BCR2000 MIDI controller, but in a more compact format, as the BCR32.

I literally have every global Live control mapped in my template set (and EVERY control of 1 instance of Operator). Dont use the BCR2000 01A setting - thats the physical MIDI port on the back of the unit, not the USB connection. The imagined functionality is great as long as similar params across devices share the same knob, but if the threshold for the gate is a different knob than it is for the compressor, it is a motherfucker to memorize it all, long term. I sincerely doubt one would have an easy time memorizing all the spatial indices of up to 4 banks of params for every Live device it's a cognitive clusterfuck. I find my way requires a lot of critical thinking to get the right setup.

If you could find the old Mackie Emulation stuff for the BCR you may be able to go that route, or use it as a basis for your own approach. That is, I haven't found a way to make it navigate tracks/devices and automap past the first 8 CCs, although I don't think it should be that hard to do the latter. I love my BCR and couldn't imagine using any other controller with Live, but there's lots of static mappings. I think you have to use the Cakewalk Generic Surface and set it up - maybe a Behringer user will walk in here and share some settings.there's some posts from BCF2000 users I've seen but I don't remember BCR off the top of my head - maybe a search will show something.ĮD: Oops - I just noticed you're on Sonar 3.11 - maybe the above won't work then. You could tweak the control scripts, perhaps. Is that what you're saying ? That you don't have the BCR set up with a control surface template preset.

I think if that's the case you don't have the right control surface selected (hehe I'm guessing - I'm new at external control too!) as your external remote controller.

You mean that if in Sonar4, you select a track, hit the FX button till it turns BLUE on the bottom left of the screen, select an effect with your mouse in the FX window, notice that 4 effect params appear below the effect window, right click on the desired effect param, select remote control, move the knob on your external controller you wish to use to control the param, hit the learn button back in the Remote Control box in the Sonar4 window - after all that you don't have full control of the effect parameter. Ultimately I'd like to use the unit for more real-time control of parameters for audio or virtual synths.
